A chilling supernatural tale!
Just before summer begins, thirteen-year-old Ali finds an old photograph. She recognizes the two children. Ones her mother, the other her aunt Dulcie…but who is the third person, the one whos been torn out of the picture? Ali will have all summer to figure it out, since shes spending the summer with her aunt and her cousin in the same house her mom and aunt used to visit when they were kids.
Then Ali meets Sissy. Sissy is mean, spiteful, and determined to ruin Alis summer. Sissy also has a secret. Could it have something to do with the old photo? Ali is dying to find out, and if shes not careful, thats exactly what might happen to her.

I read this book Deep Dark and Dangerous in reading class.
ReplyDeleteAli finds a picture of her mom and her aunt Dulcie and she want to find out who was the third person was. Then shes going to the summer place where her mom and aunt went when they were kids. She met a girl named Sissy. She was to find the secrets or problems Sissy had. Ali finds out that Teresa was the third person in the picture. Dulcie told Ali and everyone about Teresa and how she died. They found her body and buried it and had a proper funeral.
My favorite part in the book was in the end when Dulcie told everyone about how Teresa drowned and when Sissy told Ali and Emma to get her body and do a proper funeral.
If I was to rate this book I would have rated it about a 9 or so. My opinion to the book is that it was a very good book. It is a very good book because that it had many problems and how Ali had to fix them. It had several scary parts that excited me to read more, like the part where Dulcie's studio was destroyed and i picture the room with messy dark paints and colors and I see the one canvas with the dark skeleton and saw the writing, "Tell the Truth or else".
This is really good book that I have read because it contained some ghostly scary parts in the book. I recommend this book to others also if people like ghosts and deaths.
It all starts when Ali,a 12 year old girl, is looking through her old books when she finds an old picture of her mom, her aunt Dulcie, and another person (who was torn out of the picture)and the initial "T". Aunt Dulcie took her daughter Emma and Ali to the cabin in the backround of the picture (not inside the picture, to the real place) where Emma and Ali meet a "girl" named Sissy. Sissy is the meanest "person" you would ever want to meet. She torments Ali, turns Emma against Ali and Dulcie. She destroys Dulcie's art studio and left nothing but a mess. Sissy ruined a picture Dulcie drew of the lake, and Sissy drew bones at the bottom of the picture. In the morning when Dulcie was in her art studio, Emma was taking a nap in her room, Ali was reading How to Kill a Mocking Bird she looked out the window to see Emma sneaking to the boat. Ali followed slowly dehind her to find Sissy in a canoe with Emma. Ali ran off the dock and got into the boat with Emma and Sissy (Sissy was not happy to see her). Sissy had a doll named Edith that Emma wanted and she threw the doll in the water. Emma jumped in to save the doll, Ali jumped in to save Emma, they sank but Ali got them to the surface just in time. Sissy told them to tell Dulcie what happened, so when they got back to the cabin Ali told Dulcie what happened and finally Dulcie went to a loyer and was proved innocent. Ali and Emma and Dulcie got a diver to retrive the bones of Teresa(Sissy) and gave her a propper burial.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part was when Ali was in the canoe with Sissy and Emma, Because it was the most suspensful part of the book to me.
I would give this book a 10, because it had such a good storyline and tons of action and suspense at every page, the characters are all unique in their sense of adventure and action. The maud heart book I am reading now I hope is mors suspensful and as action packed as this one.
Ali gets bored one day and so she decides to read a book. She's looking through her moms old books until she finds an old picture of her mom, Dulcie, and and.... T? Where are they? At a cabin? Who is T? And why did someone tear her out of the picture? Ali can't stop the questions now! She asks her mom and Dulcie. They both say they don't remember. But Ali doesn't fall for that! It was a couple days after her dream about T. Dulcie came to visit and announced that she is going to the cabin! But Ali gets very excited when Dulcie asks her to babysit Emma, (her 5 year old daughter) while she is working. YES! Ali says. Now she gets to go to the cabin and all the questions will be answered. But she doesn't know until she gets there its nothing but trouble and danger!
ReplyDeleteWhen Ali gets to the cabin Emma and her meet a girl named Sissy. She’s a little brat and always looking for trouble! She tells Emma to say cuss words, get in trouble, and lie about Ali to get her into trouble! Emma listens to Sissy because she never had a friend and she wants one really bad! So bad that she’ll let Sissy take over her! When Emma is told she can not see or talk to Sissy again Sissy sets up secret meetings while Emma is supposed to be napping. When Dulcie went to check on Emma she was gone! Dulcie called where Ali was and Ali went looking for her. When she found Emma she was with Sissy and Sissy was trying to tell Emma to get in the canoe with an old doll that Emma wanted really bad! When Ali tells Emma to get out of the canoe and she doesn’t listen, Ali gets in with her too! They went out in the middle of the lake and Sissy accidentally dropped the ball in the water and Emma tried to grab it but she accidentally
knocked the canoe over and Sissy swimming out to in the water and Emma yelled “Come back! You’re going to drown!” Which came back with a surprising answer
“You can’t drown twice.”
Dulcie and Ali’s mom tell the truth and Sissy’s body is found and they properly burry her.

My favorite part of the story was when Emma went missing and Ali went to go find her, and when she did she realized that she was with Sissy and Sissy was trying to tell Emma to get in the canoe with an old doll that Emma wanted really bad! When Ali tells Emma to get out of the canoe and she doesn’t listen, Ali gets in with her too. I think that was my favorite part because it was very like intriguing and suspenseful!
My opinion of the book is definitely a 11! It was such a great book I want to read it again!!
