Thirteen-year-old Jonah has always known that he was adopted, and he's never thought it was any big deal. Then he and a new friend, Chip, who's also adoped, begin receiving mysterious letters. The first one says, "You are one of the missing." The second one says, "Beware! They're coming back to get you."
Jonah, Chip, and Jonah's sister, Katherine, are plunged into a mystery that involves the FBI, a vast smuggling operation, an airplane that appeared out of nowhere — and people who seem to appear and disappear at will. The kids discover they are caught in a battle between two opposing forces that want very different things for Jonah and Chip's lives.
Do Jonah and Chip have any choice in the matter? And what should they choose when both alternatives are horrifying?
With Found, Margaret Peterson Haddix begins a new series that promises to be every bit as suspenseful as her Shadow Children series — which has sold more than 41/2 million copies — and proves her, once again, to be a master of the page-turner.

I read the book Found by Margaret Peterson Haddix.
ReplyDeleteIn the beginning of the book Jonah was playing basketball with his friend Chip which really I guess was not really important so I will skip to when the story REALLY begins... In the beginning Chip gets a mysterious letter saying that he was one of the missing. Once Jonah told Chip, a little while after, Chip got the SAME EXACT letter as Jonah with no return address or anything! After he got the first letter though he got a second letter saying Beware, they are coming back to get you. Jonah, Chip, and Jonah's sister all thought that it was just a prank but after they find out that it was not, they start investigating. While investigating, Chip and Jonah have a meeting with somebody that they found on a "witnesses" list that they got from a ghostly man that they saw when they went to the government to find out about Jonah's adoption. After seeing many strange appearances from strange people, Chip, Jonah, Jonah's parents, and Jonah's sister, all go to a camp like place for adopted people where they find out a little more about their adoption than they anticipated in the beginning.
My favorite part would have to be in the way end when they were sent back to the 15th century. And by they, I mean J.B, Jonah, Chip, Jonah's sister, and Alex. I liked it because that is when the mystery actually kicked in. This book is only one in a series I think if three and I am now reading the 2nd book.
If I had to rate this book on a scale from 1-5, I would rate it a 4.5 because there is a lot of things that are happening that I am interested in. Such as, time travel, mystery, suspense and everything like that.
In conclusion, I think that this book is definitely something that I would recommend to anybody. Even though not a lot of action starts in the beginning, if you keep reading on to the end, well, you will not regret it. Also, if you read the first book, you will surely be intrigued to read the second and the third book.

ReplyDeleteThis thirteen-year-old kid named Jonah already knew that he was adopted, but his best friend, Chip, doesn't. When Chip finds out that he's adopted, he freaks out. Then Jonah and Chip receive these weird letters without any return addresses that say "You are one of the missing". They get a second one that says "Beware! They are coming back to get you". And so then Jonah's sister Katherine, Jonah, and Chip try to find out who they are and where they came from. They end up getting the FBI involved. When Jonah, Katherine, and their parents visit the FBI, Jonah gets sick in the bathroom and he meets this janitor boy who tells him to look at the file on Mr. Reardon's (an FBI worker) desk and memorize as much as he possibly can. Jonah goes back, makes a distraction, and Katherine takes pictures of the file with her cell phone. They download the pictures on Chip's computer and call up all the people whose names are on the list. And then they call this one lady, Angela DuPree, and she sends them a letter that says to meet her at the public library. So they do and she tells them what she thinks; that they are from the future. She also tells them about the airplane that came out of no where and landed. The airplane was full of babies. She explains that she thinks that Chip and Jonah were two of the babies that was on board. Then the three kids go to an adoption conference and they get trapped in a cave and get zapped to the fifteenth century.
My favorite part was the beginning with the airplane that came out of no where and it being full of babies.
My opinion of the book is that it is okay but it isn't very good to me. There was a lot of suspense but I just thought it was too predictable. Plus it doesn't even give anything away at the end; they just get zapped into a different century.
Found was okay. It wasn't my favorite book, but some parts I thought were pretty good.
The book, Found, is page turning, and I liked it so much, that I needed to read the other 2 sequels!
ReplyDeleteThe book starts out with Jonah and Chip, who are adopted, and Jonah's sister Katherine, who's not. The boys are receiving 'blackmail' letters, telling them things that get them suspicious.
The kids do some investigation to see if they can find who they really are, by going to see a C.I.A agent whose name was placed on a sticky note on a file. JB, had gotten the kids to steal an FBI file with phone numbers, each person also received the letters too.
At the end, the kids go to a meet for adopted children. There were many kids, but all of the ones from the phone list (and Katherine, who sneaked along) had been put into the same group and were taken away to a cave. In the cave the kids learn they are the children of Damaged Time, and need to fix the past (or future, for some.)
My favourite part is when the kids were put into the cave and were fighting JB before figuring he was a good guy, because it just seemed like an exciting event of the story, since this book was basically an intro into the series' problem.
I liked the book, and it was very intriguing. I would reccomend the book to anyone who would like a good read. The only downfall, is that I finished it in 1 day. Which really is not my fault, but still dissapointing.
Intro: I read the book Found by Margaret Peterson Haddix.
ReplyDeleteSummary: Found is about two boys who were adopted when they were little who start receiving weird letters. They find out they were on a time traveling plane and that they are actually all important people from back in time. They go in a mysterious cave of doom and it takes them into no time. Then the two boys, and two other kids go back in time to somewhere they are not suppose to be.
Favorite part: My favorite part of this book was when they met Angela Dupre and she told them everything she thought about the plane and everything. I liked it because it gave me some answers and it was exciting when the two men started fighting.
Opinion: I really liked this book. It was exciting and it definitely kept me reading. I didn't like that it was a cliff hanger an ind of forced me to read the next book. Besides that, I really liked it. It was a huge mystery and that is the kind of book I like. So I would give this book two thumbs up.
Conclusion: I liked this book and I would recommend it to anyone who likes big mysteries. Thanks for reading my blog!!!

To find out more about there adoption there Jonah's family goes to a detectives office who supposedly knows more about there adoption. There Jonah meats this man who tells him to look at the file on the detectives desk. Jonah distracts everyone well his sister (Katherine) takes pictures with her sell phone of the file. Wen Katherine, Jonah, and Chip look at the file they find the names of THE SURVIVORS and THE WITNESSES. They find themselves in the middle of a major mystery. They find out all the kids on the list or THE SURVIVORS are adopted, they all have received the same strange letters, and they all have been mysteriously moved in to the same area. They also cum in to contact with one of THE WITNESSES who says they are all babies from a plane that appeared out of nowhere 13 years ago, FULL OF BABIES! She says they are those babies. And that they are wanted to be sent bake to were they belong. Jonah, Chip and Katherine are going to try to fox time if they can. so that everyone els can stay in the twenty-first century instead of the past.
My favorite part was wen they found angela and they found out about everything that had happened, and who they really were. I liked this part because it was very interesting, and suspenseful. It was one of the main parts of the book. It’s like the missing pice to the puzzle.
I really liked this book. I thought it was really well written and it was very descriptive about the feelings of the character. The way it was described you felt like you were in the book yourself. I think it was a little confusing tho, because sum of the parts you really needed to pay attention to to understand them. The book was very deep to. It was a really good book and I would definatly recommend it to people who liked sci-fi books or mysteries.
In conclusion I think Found is a very interesting and capturing book that would be enjoyed by many. Thank you for reading my blog and have a nice day.
