Saturday Night Dirt by Will Weaver

It's a sizzling summer Saturday, and Headwaters Speedway is suddenly the place to be. Thanks to rainouts across the state, this small-town dirt track is drawing big-time stock cars and local drivers. First up: Trace Bonham in his Street Stock Chevy thats sure to be a winner, if only he can figure out why its acting up. Next is Beau Kim: his Modified is patched together from whatever parts he could scrape up. And on the outside, moving in fast: Amber Jenkins, a strawberry blonde who has what it takes to run rings around them all. Keeping everyone on track is Melody Walters: she knows that the impending rain might be exactly what they need to keep her fathers speedway afloator sink it for good.

Summary: Mel and Johnny Waters own a race track, and it is race night. But rain might ruin there chances of the race night ever happening.

Favorite Part: My favorite part of the book was when Trace won his race and gave his trophy to a little kid.

Opinion: My opinion of the book was 8.5 out of 10 because of all the characters. It gave all of there point of views.

Conclusion: In conclusion I thought this book pretty good. Way better than the other Maud Hart books.

  2. I read the book Saturday Night Dirt.

In the beginning Melody and Johnny waters were checking out there race track, the track was dry it needed water. Amber, Trace, Beau, and a whole bunch of people from out of town are coming to race tonight. Because there track's got rained out.And the rain is moving everywhere and soon it will come to Headwaters Speedway. After they have hot laps Trace's car isn't working right.
In the end Trace wins his race.

My favorite part was when Tuesday was hiding from Lenard in her moms car and she sneezed and Lenard hit his and was knocked out.

I would give this book a 5 out of 10 because at first it was really slow and a little boring. I didn't really like it. It was really confusing.

I would recommend this book to people who really like racing. And can understand it.

  3. In the beginning Melody and Johny Waters are worried, because rain is going to hit every were in Minnesota. Johnny said that mabye if it rains it is a sign to shut down the track for good Then Mel gets a call from a famous racer, his name is Cal Hopkins. Cal said that his track got rained out. And he was wondering if he could bring all the other people whose tracks got rained out to there race track because there's isn't rained out. Mel says yes, and there sold out.

My favorite part was when Amber was working at the grocery store and asked a lady "Paper or plastic" and the lady gives her a blank stair and Amber says "It's not that hard of a question".

My opinion of the book is a 8.5 out of 10 because all the characters gives you all the different vantage points. but all the characters also makes it sort of hard to follow.

In conclusion I thought the book was pretty good. I don't think that I would recomend it to anybody though.

Side Note: The summary isn't the most acurate because it's hard to write about every character in the book.

  5. I read the book Saturday Night Dirt.

Summary: Mel is getting the track ready for the racing tonight. Trace is trying to fix his car and Beau is getting his car ready too. Amber is getting home from work. Maurice is organizing his flags. Mel and her Dad Johnny and just putting on the final touches to the track. Beau is driving to the track and finding a place to park his trailer and his car. The track is starting hop laps which are to get the cars heated up for the races. During one of the races Beau gets into a bad car accident. He isn’t hurt but Amber goes and helps him stand up and and they stop the race. In the end they all end up some famous racer’s trailer and he is telling the story how Johnny got into the bad accident that hurt his legs.

My favorite part was when Trace gave the little boy his trophy because during the story you see Trace as a bad boy but he is really nice on the inside.

Opinion: I sorta liked this book it had a lot of characters so I got a little confused on who was telling the story in that part.

Conclusion: I didn’t really like this book because it was really confusing.

Recommendation: I don’t think that you should read this book. Well if you like racing and you can handle a lot of characters without getting confused then you would like this book. But you get confused easily I wouldn’t read this book.
