Heir Apparent by Vivian Vande Velde

In the virtual reality game Heir Apparent, there are way too many ways to get killed — and Giannine seems to be finding them all. Which is a darn shame, because unless she can get the magic ring, locate the stolen treasure, answer the dwarf's dumb riddles, impress the head-chopping statue, charm the army of ghosts, fend off the barbarians, and defeat the man-eating dragon, she'll never win. And she has to, because losing means she'll die — for real this time.

    Page 8 literal: Does this book take place in the future? What year is it when she goes into the game? inferential: What would have happened if she went to the art museum instead of the gaming center? What would have happened if she played the game with the boys?

    I don't know what year it is and I think it is the future because the bus talked to her.

    Yes, it takes place in the future because she went in side of a video game and the bus talked with her.

    I am only on page 41, right after Mr. Rasmusen warned Giannine about being stuck in the game. 1. How does she get out? 2. How many hours did she spend in the game? What would happen if she was stuck in the game forever? Would her father care if she did get stuck?

    The magical people's names are Orielle, Uldemar, and Xenos. If she didn't get the ring, she wouldn't be able to get whoever put the ring on to do what she wanted them to do.
