The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place by Maryrose Wood

Found running wild in the forest of Ashton Place, the Incorrigibles are no ordinary children: Alexander, age ten or thereabouts, keeps his siblings in line with gentle nips; Cassiopeia, perhaps four or five, has a bark that is (usually) worse than her bite; and Beowulf, age somewhere-in-the-middle, is alarmingly adept at chasing squirrels.
Luckily, Miss Penelope Lumley is no ordinary governess. Only fifteen years old and a recent graduate of the Swanburne Academy for Poor Bright Females, Penelope embraces the challenge of her new position. Though she is eager to instruct thechildren in Latin verbs and the proper use of globes, first she must help them overcome their canine tendencies.
But mysteries abound at Ashton Place: Who are these three wild creatures, and how did they come to live in the vast forests of the estate? Why does Old Timothy, the coachman, lurk around every corner? Will Penelope be able to teach the Incorrigibles table manners and socially useful phrases in time for Lady Constance's holiday ball? And what on earth is a schottische?

  3. 1. The things that were making a howling noises were 3 children that Lord Fredrick pick up from a hunting expedition.
    2. I think the period of the story is maybe in 1880-1950 because that when they had the big houses and rode on carriages.
    3. I don't think Penelope is a simple person because she can train kids that behave like wolves and make them more like humans. In my opinion that not so a simple person.
    4. I think she is but sometimes I thinks she slips because most nobles lady in the older time act like that.

  8. I think the children would do fine at the party because Penelope made a lot of progress so far. I'm not sure why Lord Fredrick wants the incorrigibles going, but I read that he changed his mind about going.

  13. 1. I guess the children walked out the bookstore because they saw the irritated dog walk by.
    2. It seems like it, they obviously have a connection.
    3. The woman did not want the children to get hurt because ever since the dog got the collar, it has been biting.
