Fourteen-year-old Will Burrows lives with his family in London. He has little in common with them except for a passion for digging which he shares with his father.
When his father suddenly disappears down an unknown tunnel, Will decides to investigate with his friend Chester. Soon they find themselves deep underground, where they unearth a dark and terrifying secret — a secret which may cost them their lives.

3.The book probably takes place not far for the time we live in now from what I read.
4.Will did not tell the police right away but waited a couple days before notify the police.

I think the man is a secret spy or something that knows that there are creatures in the tunnels and he also know's that Will has been in it with Chester and he also know's that Will and his Dad have been there too.

When Will's real father and his real brother see there wife and mother she will beg the people to let her family on the upper ground go free and she will stay with her old people forever more!
