Capricorn Anderson had never watched a television show before. He'd never tasted a pizza. He had never even heard of a wedgie. And he had never, in his wildest dreams, thought of living anywhere but Garland Farm commune with his hippie caretaker, Rain.
Capricorn (Cap for short) had lived every day of his life on Garland Farm growing fruits and vegetables. He was homeschooled by Rain, the only person he knew in the world. Life was simple for Cap. But when Rain falls out of a tree while picking plums and is hospital-ridden, he has to attend the local middle school and live with his new guidance counselor and her irritable daughter. While Cap knew a lot about Zen Buddhism, no amount formal education could ready him for the trials and tribulations of public middle school.
Cap doesn't exactly fit in at Claverage Middle School (dubbed C Average by the kids). He has long, ungroomed hair, wears hemp clothes, and practices Tai Chi out on the lawn. His weirdness basically makes him biggest nerd in school. This is great news for Zach Powers, big man on campus. He can't wait to install the age-old tradition in C-Average School: The biggest nerd is nominated for class president--and wins. So when Cap becomes president, he is more puzzled than ever. But as Cap begins to take on his duties, the joke starts to turn on Zach.
Will Cap turn out to be the greatest President in the history of C-Average School? Or the biggest punchline?
I thought Schooled by Gordon Korman Was a great book. It is about a boy name Capricorn Anderson and he live in a place called Garland with a person named Rain. Cap is a hippie because he wears tie dyed shirt and he never cuts his hair. One day rain got injured and she had to be hospitalized so cap had to go to a middle school but he did not know anything about it because Rain home schooled him. Then he meets a person named Hugh winkleman and they became friends. There was a boy named Zach powers and he picks on Cap and Zach elects Cap for president. Then later in the story Cap is really popular and Hugh and Zach get jealous so they him up and Cap gets hurt. Then The next day Cap gets punched and he has to go to the hospital. Then Cap goes back to Garland and everybody at the school is wondering what’s happened to Cap. Then the kids at the school have a memorial service for him at the school’s parking lot thinking that he is dead. Then Cap is there and everyone is happy and then Cap gets arrested and Rain come and says that she sold Garland for 17 million dollars and he gets to go back to his old school. The conflict was that no one liked Cap and the solution was that evert one liked him and he was popular.
ReplyDeleteI thought the book was great because the story and the characters were funny and entertaining. Also because how each chapter it switches off from different people telling the story in their own way like Cap, Zach, Hugh, And other people and I thought that was clever. It made me feel good because I haven’t read a book like Schooled in a while. It also made me feel sad at times because of the stuff that happened in the book. I recommend this to people who like books that are funny and weird. Overall the book is really good in my opinion.

Iam reading the book called schooled .In the story there’s a boy named Capricorn and his grandmother Rain to. It all stared like this cap was home schooled so his grandmother rain thought him stuff like school because he was home schooled and so on. One day cap’s grandmother was in his tree house cap’s grandmother she was picking plums but when she was doing that she fell down and she broke her hip and what cap did is cap called the doctor and the doctor took cap’s grandmother rain and cap too. When they were in the hospital the doctor said that she wasn’t going to go home today because she broke her hip and that cap could stay home because if was the only one that was going to stay there at the house by him self and so on. So the next day he had to go to school and one of the teachers ask a student if he could tell him where his locker was at and his classes well be at to and the boys name was Zack and Zack became cap’s friend also zack and cap were in eight grade too and on eight grade you have to do some thing called to be a presented thing to cap wasn’t going to do that but a bully put his name in the paper to be a presented and he had to do it and when he was speaking the bully said that you had to know all of the names in the school and it was a trick that he put on him and on few months zack and his friend told him that it was a trick and so on. In the last page of the book every thing was peaceful and so no and cap’s grandmother was happy too. My opinion is one to 10 I would give the book a nine because I kinda like it also why was the bully put a trick on cap anyway because that wasn’t good if some one did that to me I would of told the Principe or some thing else.

Capricorn Anderson is a hippie. He lives in a place called Garland. His grandmother Rain and him never leave Garland except for supplies. Rain is picking apples from a tree and falls out. She breaks her leg and has to go to the hospital. Cap has to go live with the Donneley's and he has to go to Claverage. He is considered a dork by all of the other 8th graders. Zach and his friends make vote the biggest dork president every year. Cap gets voted 8th grade president. He lived at Garland for all of his life up until now and has no idea what to do as president. The kids have a traditional Halloween Dance every year and Cap is in charge of Planning it. He donates all of the money they were supposed to use for the Halloween dance. The kids decide to pull a prank on him and they put him in a football jersey for the team that Claverage is playing. He gets tackled and has to go to the nurse. This other kid gets mad at Zach for doing that and tries to punch him but Cap gets in the way and Cap gets punched. He has to go to the hospital then he goes back to Garland because Rain is better. Everybody thinks he is dead.

Here is a summary about the book Schooled.
Well it starts off when rain got hurt and she had to go to the hostipal and then Capricorn Anderson had to go to a school called Claverage Middle School, he has never been to a reaglur school before he has been home schooled for his whole life by Rain but know she is in the hostipal so Cap has to go to a new school and live with another familty until rain gets better the family that he has to live with is called the Donnellys, and the Donnellys have a sister named Sohpia and she does not like Cap she thinks that he is weird.Then when Cap started going to school at Claverage middle school everybody looks at him.
Then later on in the book people picked Capricorn Anderson to be there president for 8th grade. He had to learn everybody’s names in the whole school and he had to get ready for the halloween dance. When the principal said here is some checks to get some stuff for the party Cap doesn’t get stuff for the party he gets other things....
Then when people started liking Cap for who he was, everybody liked him but Zack didn’t, he really didn’t like him he played a lot of pranks on Cap then one day Zack sent cap out on the field and Cap didn’t even know what he was doing and he got hit and the Coach ran Cap to the nurse then when he got better, Naomi hit him agin so then he had to go back to the nurse then when the bell rang Naomi heard a ambulane it pulled in to the parking lot and the nurse rushed Cap out of the building then when they opened the door up Rain was driving, Cap looked and Rain said get in hurry we are going back to garland so they went back to the Donnellys and got hes stuff and said good bye to them and left to go back to Garland then later on at the end of the book he goes back to his old school and says a coupel of things and goes back to garland again but when he gets there it is not called garland anymore.
I like this book because I thought it was a good book and it was interting and kind of heart warming in some parts.
My favorite part is when the bus driver has a heart attack and then cap started driving to the hostipal and then they called for help and they told them to stay where thery were but cap kept on going in tell he got to the hostipal.
My least favorite part is when Zack pushed cap out on the football feild and cap didn’t even now what he was doing out there, and he got hit and the coach ran him to the nurse and everybodywas in shock.

In the story Schooled By gordan Korman There is this kids name his name is capricorn anderson cap for short. He lives in garland and lives with someone who he calls his grandmother her name is rain. Rain was picking plums one day in a high tree and then fell. So then Cap found a car and tried driving her to the hospital. But when he was almost there he got pulled over and got caught by the cops. Then he explained why he was driving an old women to the hospital. So they almost put him in jail but he got free. Then the cops drove rain to the hospital and cap had to stay with These people who offered to keep him till rain healed. Her name is Mrs. Donnely and Mr. Donnely and there daughter Sophie. Mr. Donnely was gone and was divorsed with Mrs. Donnely. When he left he gave Sophie a bracelet but he took it with him to engrave it. Now Cap is in C Average Middle School. People heard about how Cap drove the bus and people were amaized that he could do that. So then Zach Powers is someone who is a jerk he thought he could pull a prank and he said that Cap is the eighth grade president. Then he felt really stupid. Then he thought to himself “Hey maybe this guy isnt so bad after all”. When Sophies dad was coming back for a little bit he only stayed for like one or two days he was coming out for her driving test he didnt give her the bracelet though and when she was going to do the test she was very upset. Also the Halloween dance was coming up and Mr. Kasagi gave Cap a whole lot of Checks to get the dance set up. Then Cap spent one of the checks for a bracelet that still looked like hers and he got it engraved and gave it to her. But she noticed that it wasnt from her dad. Then later the pep rally was coming up and And Hugh Winkleman put on a Rhinecliff Jersey. When Cap got outside he heard Zach Powers say “Hey its someone thats on team Rhinecliff get him”. The Princapl found out who it was that put Cap in that jersey then it spreaded around the whole school. Once Cap got back from the hospital he had a suprise coming at him rain was out of the hospital. She was waiting for him outside in an ambleance. She said lets go home. When they got home he went back to the school and when he almost got hit by this truck the person who was driving it was Sophie driving a car. He was so amaized then she said get in.
ReplyDeleteMy opinion of the story is that he should be a little bit older and probally even stronger. But out of the whole story I thought it was a really good book. I would recommend this book to people who likes funny and sad also just plain awesome than this is your book.

I really like this book it is funny like when sophie went driving with cap he was teaching her how to. I like it when rain gets better. I didn`t like it when cap got punch in the face after he got tricked in to getting in the other teams jersey. This book is about Capricorn Anderson he leaves with rain in garland farm but then rain slips out a tree and she is in the hospital and he has to go to a school called Claverage Middle School (C average middle school DUB by the kids) and live with a social worker and her daughter sophie. Who cap has a crush on. The school election him for eighth grade president and it is not good. Will cap be great or the funniest persons that was elected.he teaches tai chi to friends. Will cap tell sophie how he fell. My option on all this is that it is a very good book it is funny. If you like funny,action and grasping books read schooled. You are going to go hippie for it.

The book i’m reading is Schooled by Gordan Korman. Schooled is about a boy named Capricorn Anderson (Cap) who is a young boy who works at garland farm with his grandmother.
ReplyDeleteCap was at garland when his grandmother fell out of a tree. Cap went to get the garland truck but got aressted for drinving without a license. Rain (Cap’s grandmother)
had gotten hurt after falling out of the tree and had to go to the hospital for about 2 months. Cap ended up staying at Rain’s friends house Floramundi Donnoly.
Cap went to C Average middle school. All the kids thought he was wierd so Zack powers made him 8th grade presidant. Usually as the 8th grade presidant they make fun of him with fake press and other presidential stuff but with each thing they gave to him he never tattled or made a fit he never yelled back or do the same to them he just went along like there was nothing there.
Cap was like no other C Average student exept for his hippie-ness but after this bad day he became the real 8th grade presidant. Cap endid up saving the bus driver from a heart attack by driving the bus to the hospital where the nurses took Mr.Rodriguez. Soon after that incident he was arrested for driving without a lisence. Sophie (Floramundi’s daughter) never liked cap. She hated him he thougt he should just crawl back to the place where he belongs. Sophie had called cap many names but the most comin on was freakazoid.
Cap was ammazed with all the technology that they didn’t have a garland but the one that fasanated him most was the T.V.. Sophie’s favorite show Trigonometry & Tears became Caps favorite as well. After the school bus incident Cap became the real 8th grade president. Caps friend hugh became jealous that after all the time he was presidant cap just got something bettr then he did. Hugh ended up saying “what a cool shirt you have cap” and cap responded and told hugh and soon brought him to the art room to make some tie-dye shirts, pants,socks and anything white soon the speakers came up and made an anouncement that made many people come to the art room to make tie-dye.
Rain sold Garland Farm to a Distribution company and Cap got aressted for driving on there property with out a license. Cap saw rain all dressed up and prety with a corvete and told cap that she sold Garland Farm for 6 Thousand dollars. Rain Bought a condo near the new school that cap will be going to but i won’t be ready for 3 days so he ends up staying wiht Floramundi again and why not go to a school where he already knows everybody’s name.
My opinion is that the book is really good at around page 104 because there is more drama like naomi falls in love with cap and everyone likes him as president so i say the book is really good.
I would recomend this book to anyone who likes a gordan korman, so anyone that likes his books would love the book Schooled by Gordan Korman! ^_^

He has never handled money, knows how to drive a car, and he hasn’t had a hair cut since, since... NEVER!!!(gasp!)
One day he and Rain(“grandmother”) were picking fruit off of a tree, when all of a sudden Rain fell! With a injured hip(he he HIPpie, inside joke) Rain is rushed to a hospital and poor Cap is forced to go to middle school. He is living with a former student of Rain’s, and her daughter Sophie. Well at C Average Middle School if your the most nerdious person there, you better watch out, or you’ll be the laughing stalk because your the eighth grade president.
Well Cap is now a pretty cool kid and no one is picking on him, well except for Hugh(was his friend) and Zach(said this was HIS year), Cap was trampled(read book to find out how). Now cap is back home at Garland and is pretty happy, but is a little more picky about the house. I thought the book was alright, it didn't catch my attention at first, but in the end it ruled! I read the book Schooled. The author is author is Gordon Korman. This story is about a kid named Cap full name Capricorn Anderson. In the start Cap was arrested for driving his Grandmother to the hospital. Cap drove Rain ( Grandmother ) because Rain fell out of a tree. The police ask him why you grandmother was in a tree and he said she wasd picking plums. Rain was in a hospital bed to help and he was home schooled but without Rain who would teach Cap? So the police told him to meet Mrs.Donnelly she will take care of you if I remember it right. So Mrs.Donnelly told Cap to go to Claverage high school ( C Average high school said by the students ) and there is a kid named Zach Powers. Cap meets Zach at school he was like a bully to Cap because of the reason further in the story.
ReplyDeleteIt was Cap first day at C Average and I can’t think about how scary that would be like your home school for all your life then you to a high school and you don’t even know how lockers work. Cap was very coufused he had so many question in his head like why do you need lockers to lock stuff away from people. He all so had a question of the schedule and he hated how you have to meet a teacher then go to a different teacher with a different class and learn something brand new. At his school he only had one friend and it was Hugh Winkleman and he kind of a nerd will I can’t really say that he was a nerd he was just dislike like
Cap. The were really good friends and Cap start a Tai Chi group and Hugh Winkleman was the first one to join. In the middle of the book Cap meets Mrs.Donnelly daugther. He just seen pretty and how to be pretty. Close to the end Cap was hurt at the end and everyone thought he was died. At his own funeral he show up and he said “Hey I’m not died” and everyone was surpised and happy but when he left the school he never came back he stay with Rain to be home schooled. My opinion of this book is that it would be good for any kind of kid who likes something funny or just something new. This book is something I have ever read before I thought that the book would just be something about school and how it was but it was something better. So I think this book would be good for people who like funny stuff and something new.

With his tie-dyed shirts, hemp sandals, and long hippie hair, Cap is literally stuck in the 1960s. Even beyond his appearance, Cap's behavior -- his desire to learn all 1100 students' names, his complete failure to get ruffled by bullies or teen pranks -- is completely foreign. Unlike his peers, Cap literally sees only good in people, regardless of the situation.

ReplyDeleteIt started as a perfect day at Garland Farms. Cap was studying with Rain his aunt and they went out to the plum tree to pick some plums but at that moment everything went bad. His aunt Rain had climbed the tree to get some plums and she fell out of the tree and injured her hip and she was required for 8 weeks of rehab and Rain had to find a family to take care of Cap and he had to go to school and the family Rain had found was the Donnelley's. and he was scared to leave garland farms but he had to. Once he met the Donnelley's he thought everything would work out. “And for a kid that don’t know what t.v. is he is going to have some trouble”. But the last thing you could think happens Cap falls in love with Sophie Donnelley the daughter. And caps first couple days of school are rough but he meets a new friend named Hugh winkelman and they are both the big nerds of the school. And Cap finds out his hair is a screaming target for spit balls because he has never had a haircut in his life. and all the cool kids like Zach were targeting him. And Cap gets a surprise he was nominated student president but he never entered. He found out zach had put his name in and cap was chosen and everyone makes fun of him and one day he was riding home on the bus and his bus rider had a hear attack and cap knew how to drive and he drove to the hospital and the police are on him when he gets into the parking lot he jumps out and the police make him get on the ground and they cuff him and put him in the car. When he gets to the station Mrs. Donnelley gets him and brings him home. and know Cap finds out he has to plan the halloween dance and his principal gave him activity fund checks and Cap has never used a check in his life. And he spends the checks on charities and churches and he makes donation to the american cancer society and when his principal gets back he gets mad at Cap because the activity fund was empty and he calls of the dance due to lack of money but the sad thing is I cant tell you anymore. my opinion is the story was good but it got boring over time because it went on and on. I recommend this book to kids that have a sense of humor and like funny books.

What happens is that he is living with his grandmother and they live on a farm but like a farm that’s a Commune and while Rain his grandma is picking plums falls out of the tree and she breaks her leg and has to be in a hospital bed
so then he gets put with a family until she gets better and so cap has to go to school now like a regular kid he is really shy but he doesn’t like his first day then when he goes back home he finds out that he can go see rain so he does and a few weeks later he goes to school and he finds out there are having a student council president and some one nominates him to be the big cheese and its Zach Powers. He is the class clown and he nominated cap for what reason...... Because Zach wants Cap to be the school president or as he says the class dork they try to find the biggest dork ever and nominate him so Cap wins and he is now president.
