Uglies by Scott Westerfeld

Everybody gets to be supermodel gorgeous. What could be wrong with that?
Tally is about to turn sixteen, and she can't wait. Not for her license — for turning pretty. In Tally's world, your sixteenth birthday brings an operation that turns you from a repellent ugly into a stunningly attractive pretty and catapults you into a high-tech paradise where your only job is to have a really great time. In just a few weeks Tally will be there.
But Tally's new friend Shay isn't sure she wants to be pretty. She'd rather risk life on the outside. When Shay runs away, Tally learns about a whole new side of the pretty world — and it isn't very pretty. The authorities offer Tally the worst choice she can imagine: find her friend and turn her in, or never turn pretty at all. The choice Tally makes changes her world forever.

  1. My favorite book is Uglies.
In the future when you turn 16 you get an operation that makes you a Pretty but up until then your an Ugly. When Tally and her friend are about to turn 16 her friend tells her that she doesn’t want to turn pretty and that she’s going to run away to live with people who created a city outside of the pretty world. She asks Tally if she wants to run away with her but Tally says no. The day Tally went to get her operation they tell her she has to answer some questions. That ask her what she knows about her friend that ran-away. She only knows the clues that her friend left her. Tally doesn’t want to tell them about the note and have her friend get caught. They tell her she can’t get her operation until she tells them everything, so about after a week she decides to go give them the note. They tell her they already know about the note because they scanned her bag the first time she came in. They make her take the clues and go try to find the hidden city alone because they don’t understand the clues and when she gets there she must activate the necklace they gave her and they will track the necklace. So Tally takes the clues and goes on a journey trying to find the city but when she does she falls in love with the leader of the kids and doesn’t want to activate the necklace. She decides to stay there and she throws the necklace in the fire but she doesn’t realize that that activated the necklace.

My opinion of the book is that it’s the best book I have read because of the details and how you never knew what would happen next.
